Business Problem

As Nigeria’s national regulatory authority, NAFDAC plays a critical role in public health through the oversight of food, drugs, and consumer goods. However, the agency’s operations were constrained by fragmented systems and manual workflows. A hosted Exchange environment, legacy productivity tools, and disjointed file storage limited collaboration, delayed decision-making, and exposed the agency to security risks. With growing responsibilities and evolving digital policy requirements, NAFDAC required a secure, scalable, and fully integrated solution that would unify its communication, improve efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Solutions Deployed

Reliance Infosystems designed and deployed the following solutions that
transformed how NAFDAC manages its operations.

Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)

Microsoft Defender for Office 365

Microsoft Entra ID

Microsoft Compliance Manager & Secure Score

AI Integration

Through Microsoft Defender for Office 365, the project leveraged AI-powered threat detection to proactively monitor, detect, and respond to phishing, malware, BEC, and zero-day threats. Automated investigation and response (AIR) capabilities significantly reduced manual IT workloads and improved resolution times. This AI-enhanced defense mechanism reinforced NAFDAC’s Zero Trust strategy and created a cybersecurity foundation that is secure enough to scale with future innovations like Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Architecture and Services

Reliance Infosystems led a seamless transition from siloed on-prem systems to Microsoft 365’s secure cloud environment. Exchange Online replaced the hosted email setup; SharePoint and OneDrive unified document management, and Teams streamlined internal communication. Security and compliance were enhanced through Defender for Office 365, Microsoft Entra ID for access controls, and Compliance Manager. Additionally, hands-on adoption and change management programs were executed to ensure high user engagement, operational continuity, and sustainable transformation.

Reliance
Differentiation
